Mikael and Rikelmi doubles take Kowloon City into Shield quarter-finals
Photo: HKFA Two goals each from Mikael Severo and Rikelmi sent Wofoo Kowloon City through to the Senior Shield quarter-finals with a 4–1 win over HKFC.
Mikael combined with Nikola Popović before opening the scoring after 20 minutes at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground. Rikelmi added the second before half-time, heading in after another Popović contribution.
HKFC briefly reduced the deficit when Manuel Bleda scored in the 55th minute. Their hopes of drawing level were checked soon afterwards, however, as Rikelmi restored Kowloon City’s two-goal cushion.
Mikael completed his double with eight minutes of normal time remaining. Kowloon City had followed their first league win of the season, a late comeback against Supreme Shatin, with a more comfortable passage through this first-round tie.
HKFC’s goal offered a route back into the contest, but the two scorers who had put Kowloon City in front both struck again to close it off.
