Pereira completes late Southern comeback in Senior Shield
Photo: HKFA Stefan Pereira struck two minutes from time as Kwoon Chung Southern overturned a second-half deficit to beat Eastern District 2–1 in the Senior Shield.
All three goals came in the final quarter of the first-round tie at Tai Po Sports Ground. After a goalless opening hour, Léo Peres put Eastern District ahead in the 68th minute.
Southern were behind for only seven minutes before Stefan Golubović equalised. Pereira then supplied the winner in the 88th minute, completing the turnaround and sending Southern into the quarter-finals.
Eastern District had been within sight of progressing when Léo broke the deadlock. Instead, two goals in 13 minutes ended their cup run and gave Southern a winning response to their league defeat by Kitchee the previous weekend.
