Granada has final say as North beat Southern in stoppage-time drama

Samuel Granada scored in the seventh minute of added time to give Golik North District a 2–1 League Cup win over Kwoon Chung Southern, just four minutes after Southern had equalised.

North appeared to be heading for a narrow victory at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground after Vinicius Soares broke the deadlock in the 59th minute. Neither side had scored before the interval.

Stefan Golubović brought Southern level in the third minute of stoppage time, but the tie still had one final turn. Granada restored North’s lead before the whistle and secured their place in the next round of the winners’ bracket.

Southern’s late equaliser was not enough to take the contest to penalties. They instead moved into the other side of the League Cup’s double-elimination draw, while North continued their unbeaten start to the season.
