HKFC edge Shatin on penalties after four-goal League Cup tie

HKFC won a penalty shootout 5–4 to get past Supreme Shatin in the League Cup after the teams drew 2–2 at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground.

The match had produced three goals inside the first 20 minutes. Nicholas Kedwards put HKFC ahead in the tenth minute, James Scott equalised two minutes later, and Dominic Johns restored HKFC’s lead with the third goal of the opening spell.

That 2–1 advantage lasted until the 67th minute, when Lam Hok Hei brought Shatin level for a second time. Neither team found another goal before the end of normal time.

HKFC then prevailed by a single successful kick in the shootout to advance in the winners’ bracket. Shatin’s two equalisers had extended the contest, but the competition’s double-elimination format meant their defeat still left them a route to continue.
