Martínez comes off bench to settle Lee Man’s six-goal cup tie

Substitute Borja Martínez struck just two minutes after Rangers had equalised to put Lee Man on course for a 4–2 win in the Senior Shield quarter-finals.

The substitute’s 76th-minute strike at North District Sports Ground restored an advantage Lee Man had just lost. Bozhidar Kraev then scored in stoppage time to settle a quarter-final in which both sides had held the lead.

Rangers made the better start on the scoresheet, with Ibrahim Yakubu Nassam putting them ahead after 16 minutes. Willian Gaúcho brought Lee Man level in the 32nd minute, leaving the tie finely balanced at the interval.

Michael Udebuluzor finished from close range six minutes into the second half to put Lee Man in front for the first time.

Rangers were still in the contest. Paulinho Souza struck from outside the penalty area following a short corner in the 74th minute, making it 2–2 with extra time a possibility.

But Martínez, introduced for Elian Villalobos in the 61st minute, quickly replied with a shot from the edge of the box. Rangers’ equaliser had changed the score without changing the direction of the tie for long.

Kraev’s goal in the first minute of added time gave Lee Man breathing room and confirmed their place in the last four. They will face Kowloon City, who later came through a penalty shootout against North District.
