Hélio restores Eastern District lead to settle Kowloon City cup tie
Photo: HKFA Hélio’s 75th-minute winner gave Eastern District a 2–1 League Cup victory over Wofoo Kowloon City after an early lead had been cancelled out.
Li Ngai Hoi put Eastern District ahead after only three minutes, and that remained the difference between the sides at half-time.
Kowloon City’s response came in the 67th minute through Rikelmi. The teams were level for just eight minutes before Hélio put Eastern District back in front, this time for good.
The win brought Eastern District a welcome change of result after successive league defeats by Kitchee and Lee Man, as well as their Senior Shield loss to Southern. They moved on in the League Cup winners’ bracket, with Kowloon City continuing through the competition’s second-chance route.
